This song is from the film "No Mercy" starring Richard Gere, and was co-written with Michael McDonald's close friend David Pack. McDonald claims to have written it for his wife Amy Holland, a singer who he married in 1983. On the same album he covers one of her tunes as well: "I Hang on Your Every Word."
It features the much lamented Toto drummer Jeff Porcaro, who played with Michael on his first three albums and during his Steely Dan days. Porcaro died in 1992 at age 38
