This tune from 1986 popped into my head the other day. I hadn't thought of this song in nearly 25 years and suddenly there it was. A truly romantic and tender song, written by Randy VanWarmer and performed here by Michael Johnson, one of those extremely talented guys who got stuck in the lower tiers of country artists while less-talented guys were making it big. Go figure. Anyway, a lovely song, lyrically, vocally, and instrumentally (Michael is a top-notch guitarist, too).

Yes, the last slide is my favorite, too. I just thought that having an elderly couple captured the essence of "forever". Interesting concept to sing this to your husband at your wedding; I think it works better the other way around, but I guess it could work either way.

Yes, I've always thought it would make a great wedding song. Unfortunately I got married in 1976 and this song was written in 1986. But it's a good song for any romantic occasion, like Valentine's Day.
