A interview with Mew in 2003 (I think), talking about their house in London.
Translation ~
Jonas:
I started by having the best room on the ground floor, and then when the other two moved in, they held a "lottery" where I was not present. They said they, on my behalf, had drawn the smallest lot, so I got the smallest room
Bo:
Jonas was unfortunately number 4 in the draw
Jonas:
I was not there, so I dont't hope they have cheated me
Bo:
Then I can tell you that it didn't go entirely fair
--
Bo:
Jonas bakes a lot, he likes it. And Johan likes flowers
Johan:
it is actually a very pretty house.
They have the house here, and then run around the garden and up a slope. We live on a hill. The garden is very overgrown, but me and Bo have found some old furniture and they are perfectly fine, bright green with pink chairs, it is nice to sit there and drink coffee
--
Bo:
We call it our "playroom" out there, we fool around a lot, you should not talk seriously there.
Jonas:
I blew up a bomb out there the other day.
* Boom *
Jonas:
We have two washing machines!
Bo:
So we need to wear clean underwear
Jonas:
The worst thing is we only have one clothesline, we often have problems with that
Johan:
Yes there was a little queue out on the clothesline in the garden, the last time we were home
Bo:
Nobody is shopping, and there is no one who cooks.
Jonas:
We have really no need for a kitchen
Bo:
We live as if we had just left home
Jonas:
You make a good pasta sometimes
Bo:
Yes I do when I see the boys need some food
Johan:
We have our little italian guy up the street, we have the indian guy a little further up, and there is a cinema a little way from there. When we are finally at home in London, it is to relax, this is our sanctuary. So we watch a lot of DVD movies and play some music and make ourselves comfortable! It is also very nice to be together without it having to be about work
--
Jonas:
It took a long time before we felt truly at home. It was only after a year we felt that: "Now I land at Heathrow, so now I'm home." We're from Denmark, Copenhagen and we also miss seeing Copenhagen, so it has taken some time.
--
Johan:
If you go and have a little tendency to get homesick, you must do what Bo has inspired us to do, create a collage with pictures of all his friends and his girlfriend and little clippings from the magazines. I try to keep a little scrapbook of our career. And then make a collage on my wall, quite messy as you are constantly discovering new things when you lift and look under a picture. It is very nice you just can go, when you miss Denmark and see that - the boys are still doing fine and your girlfriend still looks good.
--
Bo:
it is a very cozy home.
Jonas:
We cherish it
Johan:
We split up when we turn 45 and then we'll meet again when we reach 65 at the nursing home.
Bo:
and make a reunion tour
--
Jonas:
The video you are about to see now is for our song "156". We made it with an illustrator who is one of our old friends who play with the "yes girls"
Johan:
We are a bunch of pirates. It is a little creepy, so if you have small children at home, you should probably just relax a little, or turn down the volume. It is an eerie song and a creepy video.
