Jump in the Fire (Demo)

Metallica

No Life 'Til Leather

Track #6

James Hetfield - Rhythm Guitar, Vocals

Lars Ulrich - Drums

Dave Mustaine - Lead Guitar

Ron McGovney - Bass

This demo was recorded in July 1982.

Quote from Ron McGovney in 1996:

"Lars hooked up with this guy named Kenny Kane who was a real snake in the grass. He had this punk label called High Velocity which was a division of Rocshire Records, an Orange County record company. He said he would put up the money to have us do an EP. So we went in the studio and recorded the songs Hit The Lights , Mechanix , Phantom Lord , Jump In The Fire , Motorbreath , Seek And Destroy and Metal Militia , which were done in an 8-track studio in Tuscin called Chateau East. After hearing the tapes Kenny realized we weren't a punk band so he ended up not being interested. So we took the tapes which eventually became the 'No Life Till Leather' demo."

Sucks to be Kenny Kane. He could have had the most well known and sought after demo OF ALL TIME

I like all Metallica's stuff from Kill Em' All to St. Anger. They just hold a special place in my heart I really can't dis them for leaving the "thrash" scene :)

Not Dave. It's James.

Dave and James are singing not just Dave.

I think Rick Rubin told the guys the next thing should blow the audience's ass off and that's pretty much what it did to me compared to what they've done the past 20 years. So, I have no fucking complaints at all.

Kirk's solo is much better of KEA. Which is nothing to say about Dave as having a producer critique your songs and solos while recording goes a long way.

Its just you... You are the only one hearing James say "Sitting in my room with my head in my hands / I just can't seem to move", instead of "Down in the depths of my fiery home/The summons bell will chime". How do I know that I what you are hearing if nobody else can hear it? Well, obviously I can read your mind - cue creepy but dramatic music...
