The song The Magickan And The Drones from Melechesh their new album: ''The Epigenesis''

Melechesh is a black metal band that originated in Jerusalem. Ashmedi started the band as a solo project in 1993. In the following year, guitarist Moloch and drummer Lord Curse were added to the line-up. The band's goal was to create a type of black metal incorporating extensive Middle Eastern influences mainly based on Mesopotamian/Sumerian and occult themes (both musically and lyrically); the band invented the title "Mesopotamian metal" to best describe their type of metal. The band started their career in Jerusalem (and Bethlehem) and operated from there between 1993--1998; however, they have resided mainly in Amsterdam since 1998 for several personal, professional and demographic reasons.

LYRICS:

Drones, you destined dust eaters

This is your anecdote

You dwell in a state of hypnos

Lost in the illusion of being

Subsistence, survival, let us serve

Myth and reality altered

Samsara, your marked fate

Tyrants - we will tame you

Decipher - the codes and be free

Subservient - wanderers of this earth are

Ur-Nammu comes to lay his claim

Decree the fate of the dead

Like drones you are our slaves in rapture

Tyrants - we will tame you

Decipher - the codes and be free

Subservient - wanderers of this earth are

Thousand lies twisted around you

Serpentine lines cage the feeble minds

As the magickan leads the Drones

Ur Nammu's sons, mere skin on bones

Sink to E-Mumah

House of the exalted name

Manzat - sanctuary of Babylon

The Great Chamber with the seven gods

Greets the cold gaunt drones

Tyrants - we will tame you

Decipher - the codes and be free

Subservient - wanderers of this earth are

Thousand lies twisted around you

Serpentine lines cage the feeble minds

Drones, you destined dust eaters

This is your anecdote

You dwell in a state of hypnos

Lost in the illusion of being

I like em, the slow pace really gives it more depth than just fast paced shredding constantly. Allows them to more accurately convey a very egyptian/ancient tone with their instruments rather than just sounding like every other metal band out there. Distinguishes them.

Israel makes awesome Black Metal. The Middle East in general does too!

they are telling a story. not adhering to some rigid and arbitrary subjective emotion you had when you first heard whatever it is you're trying to recapture.

well bro i've listened Epigenesis a lot of times and none of the songs are dark and raw as their older stuff...its like theyre doing more heavy thrash metal now and drop dark atmosphere. In the faster songs the problem is, that the riffs are not "oriental" enough for me. In fact i think the best song on the album is Illumination. But overall for me to buy this album was a mistake. Better listen to Djinn once more.

theyre not dark anymore, and they proof it with this song...sounds very happy or neutral, if you ask me. Wheres the awesome grimness of wardjinn gone?
