This Richard Rodgers & Lorenz Hart standard became a surprise Top 10 chart entry in the UK in 1956 thanks to Mel Torme's recording - a 'live' performance from 'The Crescendo', a Hollywood night club on Sunset Boulevard. This TV appearance was a year or so later, when Mel was accompanied by Nelson Riddle's Orchestra.

I was actually born to the strains of 'Mountain Greenery' by Mel Torme. My dad was a trumpet player in a jazz band and they played this on the Saturday night and got the chills. Then It was played on the radio early on the following Monday morning and as it was playing I entered the world.

Just to have this early "live" TV recording is amazing! The clear sounding audio and video clarity are surprisingly clean. Mel may have recorded this song 56 years ago, but it' still sounds as fresh today. His beautiful phrasing and talent are timeless! Thanks for posting this! Timeless!
