This is from a very rare album presented by legendary radio DJ Jocko Henderson on the Wand label. The sound quality is probably the best I've heard for this song (even better than the original Nomar 45)

I prefer the original Nomar record........mono was a balance and clean stereo here is the last thing you want for an atmospheric experience.

On this day in 1961 {July 11th} Maxine Brown performed "Funny" on the late Dick Clark's American Bandstand... Four months earlier on March 27th it entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #25 and spent 10 weeks on the Top 100 chart... It reached #3 on Billboard's R&B chart... R.I.P. Mr. Clark...

This is the Nomar original, but it sounds much, much better on this LP. They almost sound like two different versions because the difference in sound quality is drastic between them

I had gotten so used to the original on Nomar, but I think I like this remake better. I'm guessing she re-recorded this for Wand around 1965(?). And yes, this is a great quality recording of it. Thaks!

You made this record? As in produced it? The recording itself is very good, as this album track shows. The commercially issued 45 on Nomar and most subsequent issues have really bad sound quality (which really is no fault of the recording itself). I'm thinking that the song was recorded in stereo, and that the azimuth was a little bit off when they did the original mono master. Bell Sound did completely different masters for this album, and everything sounds fantastic.
