like ozzie says, it's an old, old traditional song, Max Romeo adapted the lyrics as a overall commentary about Jamaican society - "some a big shot", "some a sufferah" "some a criminal, some a ginal" (con man, hustler, etc). there was a huge divide between the rich and poor, and the "share the wealth" sentiment of the song was a popular theme for the PNP party that put Michael Manley in office in 1972......... "Let The Power Fall On I" , off this same album was his huge hit at the time.
