Their take on "The Warmth of the Sun" from *Vol. 1* is now on YT and it is fucking awesome.

The first two Sweet/Hoffs albums were great, but I've had enough. Matthew Sweet is a damned good -- no, make that a *fucking* good songwriter! -- and doesn't need to be mucking around with cover tunes, dragging that has-been from the Bangles like a weight on his ankle. And as far as I've seen from clips here on YT, their live act is something to be *endured* rather than *enjoyed!*Interestingly, both Sweet and Hoffs benefitted from the genius of Jules Shear. He wrote "If She Knew What She Wants" (and his studio version from *The Eternal Return* is far superior to the Bangles's cover). Jules also co-wrote a good deal of one of Sweet's early albums, *Earth*.

I hate to say it, but the recording quality really sucks, and apparently they didn't learn anything from their first covers album, because this song has the same problems. I'm not a sound engineer, but I think it's overly compressed or something. As with most of the songs on the first album, its well performed, but unlistenable. It's got zero dynamics. Maybe it sounds OK on an ipod.

I love this version. Sweet's got nice pipes. I love this CD. Their covers of Sugar Magnolia, Bell Bottom Blues, and Go All the Way are terrific as well.

Hey thanks for posting. Would you be able to post 'Sugar Magnolias' from the same CD? that would be awesome.

Objectively Bruce Dickinson has better chops for this cover. This song should inspire you to rock out. These two are a bit too mellow on this version.

Not one of my favorite Bowie songs, but this is a good Bowie-sounding re-arrangement. And of course I am in love with Susanna Hoffs since the first time I saw her in a Bangles' video.

I love Mott, and this is a beautiful cover! Matthew Sweet is so underrated!!!

So true--Matthew gives it a *serious* Bowie feel--it's so obvious now, isn't it? Love it.
