The first couple times I heard this song, I envisioned the original "character" was a man who had decided to join the army, and was regretting leaving his wife and baby, and that he was calling out top God to if not save him, help his daughter. And that she was alone for awhile after his death, and her mothers abandonment. And that he was and angle singing to her that he loved her s does God. I still see that, as well as what it actually means. This song has so many different meanings. <3
