Fred's tone, so thick and growly. Fodera sounds very poor compared to it.

What a raw video. They both demonstrate that next level style of bass playing that I one day hope to achieve with my own playing.

I don't know man, there's just something magical in a Fodera you don't hear from other basses. I've never heard another bass get that EXACT tone. Clean, crisp and clear while still fat and low when it needs to be.

The main reasons for buying a Fodera is for the feel/playability and the craftsmanship, the tone is great too but thats because they use the Pope preamps. They do impart a unique tone, but not as significant as custom pickups do. Listen to janek Gwizdala, he plays a bass very similar to Matt's and his tone is way different. Dark but but clear, where as matts is bright and grindy. Amplification, pickups and strings and 90% of tone. Fingers, woods and preamps the rest IMO.

Naw man that's the signature Fodera tone if we're talking about the same thing.

I think it's mostly the pickups and epifani gear.

I love that grindy tone matt gets in the upper register and G string in general. I also have no idea how me moves his left hand around like he does, looks like it's possessed.
