MM is a charismatic rocker,performer and visual artist. Seeing old concerts one can feel he contributed a lot of spiritual and physical energy also into his performances,production,his music. I agree with with Rich Handsome that some people found his image disturbing and are uncomfortable to go deeper to the art he shows. Behind the masque of freak is a singer,artist who wants to say something,who reacts to the things around us ( if you listen the lyrics of the song Nobodies for example,the song with a big meaning and message) and Manson is really intelligent independent thinker and knowledgeable guy. When people relax and look at him from this point of view they can discover interesting things. :)
