The nun's outfit is also interesting - is Faithfull desperately returning to the Catholicism she spurned, in her mind and then practically after becoming a singer, but which caused conflicted feelings of 'Guilt' on Broken English.

Bowie sings with ironic detachment: this simple pop song is below him, artistically and in life. For Faithfull, this is similar to the music that made her famous, and she performs out of greater necessity, having been made homeless and lost custody of her son in 1972, and battling heroin addiction. From such a position, such sentimentalism becomes appealing - she is detached from it in reality, and not by 'choice' as such. That said, she could ascend beyond this - making her somewhat ironic

Bowie seems to be highly amused by his outfit.

What do we have here? Definitely the best rendition of this song ever. Just wonder if it would be any better if Mick Jagger was singing Marianne's part. Also we see the early in Bowie's career Austin Powers teeth that got fixed later in his career. Last but not least we have to give him credit for inventing the Mullet. Sad that was the peak of Hockey hair and it was down hill from there.

Marianne musta taken a break from living on that wall to sing this ditty.
