It's the strangest thing how she is so often called a survivor, as if she endured a concentration camp, or one of those creepy polygamist colonies, or was one of those girls who answered an ad "English teachers needed in Bangkok" and found out it was a jail-like prostitution ring, or someone who faced the adversity of horrible (non-self-inflicted) illness, or was finally found alive years after being kidnapped. I just don't get it. And another thing... I also don't get how some people say how they love her new voice, that it has some sort of marvelous maturity, that it suits her. Well, the last part is right. You treat yourself like an ashtray, it is not unexpected you will sound like one. Is it possible that I and some others just don't comprehend, or have so many people been fooled into mistaking laryngitis for great art?

Tracymmo, give us all a break. It's obvious her voice is not the same as it was years ago. That doesn't mean it's not good. It's like with Bonnie Tyler . Early in her career she had a much clearer voice then in her later years where it has a more gravely feel to it. I think she still sounds great but it's not the same voice. Same with Marianne Faithful.

There's still something eerily beautiful about both versions.

When I saw her early videos I could not help feel like I was in love with her now she is scarey. We all age and perhaps that's the greatest wrath of nature to destroy our looks and health.

I just listened to the original. This is a different person. I mean, even Paul McCartney after all these years somewhat the same, and we all agree he doesn't have the same strength singing live. But she sounds completely different here. I suppose her dark days really ruined her.

When I saw her live I shouted "LUCIFER RISING" during the final applause.
