I have never claimed that it was the original version - it was the only version I had available digitally when someone asked for it some years ago (since when the original has been uploaded by someone else)- I did notice it played alongside the original (which I have on a 45rpm disc) with no difference in timing. Incidentally my latest upload of this a 1995 live version shows that Karl could still sing very well just a few years before his death.

Sorry to disapoint you but I can asure you that this is NOT an early or original 60's recording . I have most of the original recordings taken from the 1960s records that i collected and listened to as a teenager now in my 70's . Its one of Karl's later recordings . made when he was way past his best . the original's are brilliant . but some of his remakes in later years should not have been made or released as they do not do justice to his once superb voice and vocal range .

Kevin Neill (Lead Guitarist) Kevin died peacefully on Saturday March 13th. 2010 at six o'clock in the evening, surrounded by his family at his home in Manchester. Kevin's career spanned over six decades, as a trombone player with bands like Joe Loss and Eric Winstone, as a guitar player with the Karl Denver Trio and finally as a member of The Bachelors for the last 15 years.

I remember this so well from my eldest brother's record collection. I twas very differnt, did not have the swing of this version and Karl went for higher notes AT " Marketa" I wonder--my bro had kalr Denver EPs -perhaps different from DeltatangBrav's single? Karl Denver and my brother were both merchant seamen and Karl also fought with the Argylls in Korea . I was a seaman and a soldier also . My brother and Karl are sadly gone. God rest them both and all like them.

This version was released on an LP on the Nevis label, NEVLP122. The original is quite a bit different.

Thanks for this Marcheta version but its not the original 1961 hit recording, Can we get that on board? Mick Clarke ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I have just checked it with the 1961 Decca 45rpm - 45-F 11360 (drf 28075) and can't hear any real difference - they played alongside each other - this download does have a few jumps in it I will try to put a better copy of it on. Thanks for your interest.
