When I was really young I recorded the audio of this  movie on a cassette recorder  I would listen to it and had all the lines memorizes. I would hum the theme when I played Stratego with my friends and beat them, it would drive them nuts. I made VHS copies of the movie  back in days, then bought 3 DVDs when it came on it. Whenever I feel down I  whistle the theme.I always remember the line" 300 men to stand against  the whole of Asia, no 301 and all Spartans!" I even read what Herodotus history book said about it.

'Τόσο το καλύτερο, θα πολεμήσουμε υπό σκιά', απάντησε ο Λεωνίδας... Το 1930 ο σπουδαιότερος ελληνολάτρης δημοσιογράφος όλων των εποχών, ο Ρενέ Πυώ, επισκέφτηκε την περιοχή και γράφει: 'Αυτή η ιστορική φράση, που πάντοτε είχε ηχήσει στα αφτιά μου σαν μια ανόητη καυχησιά του ήρωα Συρανό ντε Μπερζεράκ, αποκτά εδώ μια άλλη εντελώς διαφορετική διάσταση. Γίνεται αληθινή! '. Ο καλοκαιριάτικος ήλιος θα πρέπει να ήταν αφόρητος καθώς έπεφτε πάνω στις περικεφαλαίες. Η σκιά μια αγωνιώδη αναζήτηση και θεϊκό δώρο... Ο Λεωνίδας, λοιπόν, εκτός από τις ορδές των Περσών νίκησε κι άλλους 'καθημερινούς φοβερούς εχθρούς'. Σε κανέναν πόλεμο δε βρίσκονται αντιμέτωποι μόνο άνδρες, όπλα και σχέδια... Shot in glorius color, widescreen cinemascope and the thousands of extras fully suited in period armour. All real. Everything in the last 20 years or so looks like a video game. They get 5-6 actors shoot it in a studio with a green screen. The other people.props, and sets are all C.G.I That's not filmmaking, Spartacus 1960, Ben Hur 1959, Cleopatra, The Fall Of Rome, El Cid and movies like that were epics.

Manos' Music is EXCELLENT!!! PS. 300 movie was a comic adaptation.. So it was an adaptation of an adaptation. Hollywood distorts and destroys true art. But that's junk producing-mass feedingn industry, anyway.PS2. LOOKING FORWARD for Steven Pressfield's Gates of Fire adaptation to come out, someday.. Manos music can fit excellently..

What I liked most about this movie over the new one was that it actually mentioned the 700 Thespians. Unlike the 300 Spartans, the Thespians really didn't need to stick around as they weren't sworn warriors like the Spartans. They were just some good guys that decided it was the right thing to do. Hell, even the Spartans said that the courage of the Thespians outstripped their own...
