Manfred Mann - Just Like A Woman (1) 1966

Oh she takes just like a woman

And then she makes love just like a woman

And then she aches just like a woman

But she breaks just like a little girl

Nobody feels any pain

Tonight as I stand inside the rain

Everybody knows

That baby's got new clothes

But lately I see her ribbons and her bows

Have fallen from her curls

Oh she takes just like a woman, yes she does now

Makes love just like a woman

I said she aches just like a woman

But she breaks just like a little girl

Now I, I guess I just can't fit

And I believe it's time for us to quit

And when we meet again

Introduced as friends

Please don't let on that you knew me when

I was hungry, and it was your world

Oh you fake just like a woman, yes you do now

You make love just like a woman

And then you ache just like a woman

This is clearly not as successful as their cover of Blinded by the Light. This is really pretty ordinary. The instrumental is dumbed down and the vocal adds nothing whatsoever to the original singer's performance, in truth it is markedly inferior. People saying foolish things like "ooh, this is better than the original recording" are just idiotic.

Wow -- just discovered this -- Paul Jones had one of the great sixties male rock voices ("The One in the Middle" is a great, great song by first version of Manfred Mann). This is as good -- maybe better -- than Dylan version.

I love both Dylan and Manfred Mann's version of this beatiful song. It's a masterpiece with both, and one of my favourite songs. If you criticize Manfred's version or Bob's version, remember that these two versions are completely different!!! Dylan made the song, and it's his songs, and it's just wonderful. But Mike d'Abo is a much better singer, and the band is more professional. So they both have strong sides. And the two versions are also completely different and are beatiful in other ways!!!

@kizzycappucinno I think that Manfred Mann's cover is more catchy, and I've fallen in love with this song because of this version, but Bob Dylan's versions just... send me shirvers down my spine.

Love this. First song they released after Paul Jones left and everyone was saying they were finished. Mike D'Abo came in and the hits continued. This one made the top 10. Interesting to see 'Swinging London' at its height in the summer of 1966.
