No offense, but Rose Royce didn't put any feeling in the song, it's supposed to be a sad song and rose was all happy and smiled through the song. Madonna actually put emotion of sadness into the song

Can't hold a candle to Gwen Dickey. Breathing audibly, pressing her thin voice until it cracks, poor timing, vibrato like a lonesome sheep. That's beside being a lousy actress. A good business person tho', if that is what turns you on! Madonna is for boys who never grow up and girls who'd like to be naughty. Those who prefer the washed out copy to the raw original.
