I dunno why people hate the video so much. It matches the song quite nicely and fits with the title of the song. This girl if going through what seems like a night out gone wrong and spiraling out listlessly down the pisser. And every time she starts crying the chorus reminds her she should calm down... the good in her is what the "speaker" of the song is missing, yet he wants to capture her in her entirety, as the person she truly is. Without knowing what is actually being said we do not know who instigates the arguments so we cannot pass judgement .. but we can see she, like any person, is distraught and spiraling like a paper bag in a dust devil, out to places she wouldn't intend for herself. As one commenter also noted, she is in a wheelchair: Symbolism of life spinning down a path unknown?.The music is as expected of Madness, tells a story and captivates the listener. The slower pace matching their maturity; It's simple and inviting into the world of the "speaker" in the lyrics. In my opinion the video works well in conveying the emotions of the song... How I feel about it anyway.

I thought that was the point. She's not to be admired or even likeable. For me, I pity her. I agree, it's not the kind of woman I want to know too well, but that doesn't make what she is any less sad. She thinks she's the biggest thing to hit London, and can't handle herself or the world she lives in when she comes down off of that high of self-obsession. That's what I think anyway.
