One of his most popular and maybe also well known songs, no wonder, this is more than nice but judge yourself and listen.

I believe Victor Krauss is the bass player; the cellist is John Hagen.

You know, I want a boat. And a pony.

Trivia... the cello player is Victor Krauss, brother of legendary bluegrass singer Alison Krauss, from Alison Krauss and Union Station.

The first time I heard it was in a little pub in Hilton Head SC years ago.A friend opened the show and got us backstage after Lyle.He was all by himself, leaning against a wall, hair piled high in his white Nudie suit.I walked over, introduced myself and said,'you have no idea how big you are going to be he said "that's mighty nice of you, you really think so"? I said, count on it.I'll bet, having not seen him since, if I bumped into him tomorrow he would remember that encounter.

I first heard this song in early 1991 while visiting Greune, Texas, just north of San Antonio. It was the first Lyle Lovett song I had ever heard. I've been hooked ever since.
