@willieguitars I'm still a fan of what I call the Carlos Santana "Garden of Delight" tone! That was the original Mark I. It still had the Fender "Surf" vibe left. The old spring reverb made it sound loosey goosey! Not like the sin wave violin tones that come out of modern amps! That sounds nice and all, but it's too tight for me. I like it loosey goosey! @osensei2987 I sold the Boogie quad and the Boogie 50/50 amp. I found the amp which is the Holy Grail. A vintage mint Mesa Boogie mark 2C+ from 1984. It's even worth more than Carlos Santana's boogies but since he's famous, his amps qualify for very valuable....well because he owns them. But in the actual street market my amp is worth more than his..lol.

There are some situations beyond control like the sound man when recording or playing live and in studio recording. I know because i also sound different at times when recording or playing live even though my guitar/amp tone setup is untouched.

Well it's just a preference for me. I remember Santana was my first concert (1975 Borboletta tour). That's the Santana tone I remember and love. He's always been tweaking his tone ever since. But if you go watch some 1973 videos like his live Lotus era Samba Pa Ti you'll hear it. When he switched to Yamaha, he really thinned out his tone, except on some tunes. By the time Spirits Dancing in the Flesh came out he really sounded different.
