divorce is only an option if its a last resort. she could have stayed and tried to make it work but she didn't. she wanted her own way because she didn't love him anymore. there are just so many things wrong with the whole situation that I don't wanna get into, but she should not have sung this song saying one thing and then doing the opposite

Also, she had kids to think about. Did they want her to divorce their father??? The Bible does allow you to separate from your mate if you can't live with them, but you cannot remarry. If you do, that's adultery. It's obvious that Amy's remarriage was sinful, and in fact I don't believe that God even recognizes such adulterous marriages.

Gary has claimed that he never physically abused Amy, and she hasn't claimed he did either. It does sound like he was a jerk in many ways, but from what I can tell, there are millions of other women out there who have worse marriages than Amy Grant did but stay with their husbands. Besides, if her marriage was so "unbearable," why did she stick with it for 17 years? And why did she wait until she had someone else "lined up" on the other side before leaving? (cont'd)

Amy's marriage to Gary was a painful one indeed. One of her friends said she was handling the situation more gracefully than anybody else. Sometimes, divorce is the answer when you have to make drastic measures to be sane. Yes, God hates divorce, but sometimes it is the answer when somebody refuses to get along with the other.
