Pre-Led Zeppelin track from Robert Plant and his group Listen in 1966 on CBS Records. The deep, thick soul in Robert's voice is at the forefront here, something he would hone further with his later bands, Band of Joy and, of course, Led Zeppelin. CBS contracted Robert and his band two other singles in addition to this one, none of which amounted to any substantial chart success. The song is a cover of a Rascals tune.

Listen (pun not intended) to the beginning of "Bring it on Home" by LZ. He sings like this song.

I only heard of CBS tv and radio in the Us but not CBS Records and when someone said they thought his voice was too high I thought he meant the TV station that this was taken from the TV station

The voice was slowed to deepen it. I bet I could do a pitch adjust and hear what the 17 year old golden god might have actually sounded like.

what a beautiful man! My Dad has albums of led zeppelin, my mother wished she'd married him. God? When you bestowed talent, gold, and beauty into the world, Robert was awake.

Interesting. Did Listen have female back-up singers as a regular part of the group, or was it only in the studio?I didn't know Robert was in a band pre-Band of Joy, then I saw Jon Anderson in concert and was talking about this band opening for his pre-yes band, The Warriors, way back when. Jon said they were really good and he liked the singer's hair. :)

He always had the high part of the range, but kinda lost some of that deepness in early 70s. And then the voice changed again towards the late 70s. For instance in 'Celebration Day' reunion concert of 2007 in most songs he clearly sounds different to LZ days, but in "For your life" his voice is nearly identical to the record.
