Is this from the recording session for the album Prisoner in Disguise (1975). I see Pete Asher in the studio, Andrew Gold, and Dan Dugmore on pedal steel. I think that's Russ Kunkel on drums

"Tracks Of My Tears"People say I'm the life of the party'Cause I tell a joke or twoAlthough I might be laughing loud and heartyDeep inside I'm blueSo take a good look at my faceYou know my smile looks out of placeIf you look closer it's easy to traceThe tracks of my tearsOh I need you, need youSince you left me if you see me with another guyLooking like I'm having funAlthough he might be cute he's just a substituteBecause you're the permanent oneSo take a good look at my faceYou know my smile looks out of placeIf you look closer it's easy to traceThe tracks of my tearsOutside I'm masqueradingInside my hope is fadingI'm just a clown since you put me downMy smile is my make-up I wear since my break-up with youBaby take a good look at my faceYou know my smile looks out of placeIf you look closer it's easy to traceThe tracks of my tearsWoah baby take a good look at my faceYou know my smile looks out of placeIf you look closer it's easy to traceThe tracks of my tearsOoh ooh ooh ooh

People were wrong! You were not the life of the party, you were THE party! The soul, the conscience, and the reason there was a party. What a paragon of womanhood!. Beautiful, smart, talented, and sexy.

I had a loved one tell me to listen to the lyrics & there was a 2nd meaning to it for me, & then he went & married someone else...I never figured it out!

Great version. I remember loving it in the 70's and still love it. One of my favourite Ronstsdt tracks and a great pedal steel at the end. Really evocative of the hot summers in 1975 and 76 in the UK. Wonderful.

Screw you Underwood, this is how it's done. Only Smokey can sing it better, than Linda could

Faultless interpretation. No one will ever sing like her. She sings circles around this cover...even Smokey said so.
