poor Ginger Baker. Back in the day he was considered the best and took on all the jazz greats in epic drum battles. He could do stuff that nobody else could.

Wow, amazing you thought that, because the same exact thing happened with me. I still think Bonzo's the greatest ever, but when you combine being a great drummer AND great singer, Levon was really without peer. I didn't really get into him until much later on. I guess it was because he was just a humble dude who didn't seek out the spotlight.

Love just seeing him talk about his early influences! I grew up listening to him and after all these years still love listening to him. Keep his music alive!! Keep playing his music :-)

I'm sorta' embarrassed that it took me so long to identify Levon as an extraordinary drummer. My heroes were Keith Moon and John Bonham and even Neil Peart but really, he was a much better drummer than any of them. He was a fantastic musician and artist. What a guy!

I worked the morning shift at KFFA in '73 - '74. I knew Sonny Payne well. In fact, on a few occasions I sat in for him on THE KING BISCUIT PROGRAM. Wonderful memories.
