This is only the third video I've ever made so be nice to me ;-). I have to say it was really chilling going through all that old civil rights movement footage...
Update 1/27/2010
Hi all, was taking a look at the comments and this video again after a long time away from it and just wanted to add my two cents in.
A lot of the images in this video just make my blood boil (as it should lol) and I'm sure this has a similar effect on a lot of people. 'How could this have happened?' is a question that comes to mind a lot.
How can otherwise normal and nice people be so hateful towards others solely on (sometimes very seemingly ridiculous) assumptions that have no basis in reality? I think an accurate answer would be: conditioning.
What is the worldview of the small child in the Klan outfit? Or the Phelps children holding the hateful signs? And I think it's a good guess that the guy who says he's an ex-gay didn't arrive at that conclusion without a lot of conditioning.
I'm pointing this out because I think it's a good thing to keep in mind when you're confronted with negativity from others or even within yourself. What you're experiencing could be the result of years of conditioning and it's stranglehold on this person or group of people.
And just as important is to be aware of who if anybody stands to profit from all the fanning of the flames of ignorance.
Anyway, thanks for watching and for all the great comments. It's always nice to hear what other people are thinking. Kind of crazy to see how many views this video has gotten, good thing I didn't know all that before I posted it or I would have gotten stage fright lol.
:)

Lyrics:
When you march stand up straight.
When you fill the world with hate
Step in time with your kind and
Let it ring
When you speak against me
Would you bring your family
Say it loud pass it down and
Let it ring
Let it ring to Jesus 'cause he
sure'd be proud of you
You made fear an institution and
it got the best of you
Let it ring in the name of the
one that set you free
Let it ring
As I wander through this valley
In the shadow of my doubting
I will not be discounted
So let it ring
You can cite the need for wars
Call us infidels or whores
Either way we'll be your neighbor
So let it ring
Let it ring
in the name of the man that set you free
Let it ring
And the strife will make me stronger
As my maker leads me onward
I'll be marching in that number
So let it ring
I'm gonna let it ring to Jesus
Cause I know he loves me too
And I get down on my knees and
I pray the same as you
Let it ring, let it ring
'Cause one day we'll all be free
