the rem comments are a little strange. maybe you've all forgotten who this lee renaldo guy is....i'm sure lee would have some positive words for the georgia four, and that sonic youth and rem had an influence on each other, but the comparison is objectively pretty weak. there's only one song on this record under five minutes, to begin with.lee's never been shy about his love for the grateful dead, and this disc definitely picks up a little bit of deadhead instrumentation. but, what it sounds like is lee renaldo, who is by no means a new recording artist.i mean, this is his *tenth* solo disc. and, he clearly had a decisive, directional influence on the band coming out of the grunge moment and into the mid to late 90s, when coco was small. the vast majority of sonic youth material in the washing machine to murray street corridor (i'd argue their best period) has lee's jam band footprints all over it.salmons to the forehead, guys. salmons to the forehead...

When he played in Buenos Aires last july, he said that choosing a record's cover was a very tough job. It seems that he did it very well.

This is a great chance for Ranaldo and Shelley to show how much they bought to Sonic Youth when Moore and Gordon seemed to take all the attention. Shame about the cover art though...
