On this day in 1957 {February 15th} In Pittsburgh, PA the "Greatest Show of 1957" rock tour debut...LaVern Baker was one of the performers and at the time her "Jim Dandy" {at #22} was on Billboard's Top 100 chart...And what a show it must have been; also appearing were Chuck Berry, Fats Domino, Clyde McPhatter, Five Satins, Moonglows, and Bill Doggett..Fats had three records on the Top 100 at the time: "Blue Monday" {at #10}, "Blueberry Hill" {at #21}, and “What’s the Reason I’m Not Pleasing You” {at #77}…While Mr. Doggett had two records on the Top 100 at the time; "Ram-Bunk-Shush" {at #67} and "Honky Tonk" {at #96}...10 years ago

I bought this in the 60's.. Because they thought it was not good, it was sold in a plastic pack of three 45's.. This music was not played in Boston, not on AM.. There was one black station but it was only 100 watts. I lived 20 miles north of Boston. You might get the black station on a rainy day or late at nite.. I sat up every nite and listened to this music which had so much more energy and soul.Of course many many year later, came the internet, and then I could find some history on her. 10 years ago
