+Yoko T I've loved this song since it 1st came out in 1972 (have a lot of Kristofferson albums). It seems to fit our discussion of Religion & Prejudice in relationship to #JeSuisCharlie & #JeSuieAhmed.

I played this old vinyl album until it was embedded in my brain to this day. Loved it then and love it now. Timeless, good old rockin' country soul. Those were great days, great memories.

For all of you that are in conflict over why this song is "owed to John Prine"? Get past that would you? I have enjoyed both of these artists since the first release of each of their albums. Kris was always more recognized by the public back in the 70's and had been known as a song writer for others for many years. "Sunday Mornin' Comin' Down" was recorded by Cash and Kris was a guest on his show more than once. "Me and Bobbie Magee" recorded by Janis back when the two were together. In fact, he was more well known by the mainstream public before artists like Willie Nelson who also wrote songs for others... like Patsy Cline's song "Crazy". John was writing songs that others made famous as well. "Diamonds and Rust" has been recorded by Joan Baez and Dylan, separately and together I might add. "Angel From Montgomery" was recorded by Bonnie Raitt. These are now recognized as being written by John, but back when they were first released they were not. John also co-wrote the song "You don't have to call me darlin" with Steve Winwood that was recorded by David Allen Coe. Steve Winwood also wrote the song "City of New Orleans" that was recorded by Arlo Guthrie, son of Woodie Guthrie who wrote "This Land Is Your Land". Sorry guys, but this could go on forever. Just be happy we have been blessed to have heard and enjoyed all of these artists and more. Who cares why it was "Owed"? Seems a private matter, or joke between the two of them.

Heard Kris June 15, 2013 in NYC, he's still warm, caring, charismatic, attuned to his lyrics and totally connected to the audience. A wonderful evening to be in the presence of this 77 year old whose heart is still attuned to justice and peace. He always said he's first of all a songwriter, and his lyrics attest to that.
