@dhardway excuse me for not mentioning Koop's best version that I was reffering since I liked live more than studio version. Au contraire my dear neophyte, nobody forced you to read my post! Excuse me if my opinion as a bonafide music lover and aspiring musician offends you. The pocket is too shallow and the vocalist missed the mark in expressing the meaning of the song. I guess Curtis/Carmen are expected to be the "honored" by having Koop do a crappy rendition and to have fools like you declare that this is the best version of the song? I love Koop's other stuff but this sucks. You NuJazz heads are annoying.

Nobody forced You to listen the song. I enjoyed the original and I also enjoyed the cover that was probably made to be an homage. Something that I, as a "neophyte", really respect.

This is ok for you neophytes but this cannot touch the original, which has a much deeper pocket. Also the vocals don't convey the emotions as the Curtis/Carmen Lundy version. Perhaps because it was performed/recorded live.
