What a great version of a classic, wonderful songCannot believe there are eejits here arguing about which version is bestIt's wonderful to see new, successive generations of musicians and audiences keeping alive Hamish's music, and the memory of his fine talentsThe song is the best - and that's all that matters

Sounds almost like a Tom Waits interpretation. Beautiful instrumentation and props to him for singing it originally and true to his own stylistic nature. But the original is the original and I'm sure we all know it ;)

Can't believe someone describes Kenny's vocal as weak, one of the most beautiful voices in Scotland, as Mark Riley says 'he could make you cry singing the phone book'. Great version of a great song.

Kenny is a brilliant folk singer/ songwriter and it is a plus that he is a Scot. Comparing Kenny to the great Hamish Imlach is unfair as they both are marvelous artists, Scottish or otherwise.

it's not...but no one could be. Total respect to him for bringing Hamish's music to a younger audience though.

I like this rendition. It reminds me a little of Hamishes blues version of the song except more spiritual.

Saw him do this in The Ship in Anstruther at new year a few years ago...2006 i think. Don't think i've ever seen anything more atmospheric in all my life. Did it a bit quicker and there was none of the violin bullshit obviously....
