Ken Boothe's recording career began in Jamaica in the late 1950s, when he formed a duo with his neighbor Stranger Cole as "Stranger & Ken". Between 1966 - 70, Boothe recorded his first records, for which he worked with producer: Clement "Coxsone" Dodd (Studio One). In 1973 he released this excellent and heartfelt cover of the Syl Johnson classic "Is It Because I'm Black" on the Trojan album Let's get it on.
