NO COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT INTENDED - (Mercury 72596-B) This wonderful east coast production recorded in July 1966 was curiously positioned as the flip side to Keith's debut single for Mercury, 'Ain't Gonna Lie'. Very much in the style of Burt Bacharach & Hal David with a touch of Teddy Randazzo, it's a shame that more attention wasn't given to this track as it's one of Keith's best recorded works.
Born in Philadelphia on May 17, 1949 James Barry Keefer would eventually be signed to Columbia Records in 1965 and issued his first single, 'Dream' / 'Caravan Of Lonely Men'. Credited as Keith and the Admirations, the record was produced by Jerry Ross and arranged by Joe Renzetti. With a new position in Artists & Repertoire at Mercury records later that year, Ross brought Keefer along working once again with Renzetti. A string of 8 singles and two LP's would be issued with the label between 1966 and 1968.. The biggest selling disc of the bunch being '98.6', a million selling record that peaked at #7 for two weeks in February 1967.
