Who else but the delightful June Allyson could pull off a jazzed up "Elizabethan" production number like this? Nice upload, thanks.

Love, Love, Love, this song and June Allyson singing this is just delightful!l, I re-run my dvd back three times just to see her sing this, soooooo cute - and the dancing, wow was she fast on her feet, never saw her look better singing in a movie! I, also liked her in, TWO GIRLS AND A SAILOR WITH VAN JOHNSON. Harry James Band was also in this, which made it even better.

David's Broadway Station
Welcome back...thankfully my favorite season is just around the bend, and no I'm not playing "Spring is Here" yet or more appropriately "Autumn in New York" by Vernon Duke...no , actually in a strange sort of way I'm saying Hi to my sister Allyson....why?...because she would have had an "I" in her name except for the fact that my Mom adored June Allyson! This wonderful song is from "A Connecticut in King Arthur's Court" ! Hart using his own vernacular "Thou swell" is similar to what Cole Porter did when he wrote "De-lovely" or when Ira Gershwin penned "' 'swonderful"...they took liberties with the English language so that it would be fun for the audience! Ira Gershwin and Rosemary Clooney were once at a party, and Rosemary said "I feel badly about....." and Ira said"Yes I've been feeling goodly about the whole darn thing". LMAO! June is one of my all time favorites from MGM along with Judy, Fred, Gene, Jane, etc etc etc! Back a long long time ago, Producers could take chances on shows with composers who were known for their wonderful songs because it didn't cost the producers millions of dollars. Now, unfortunately, we have a major problem in funding young composers because the money is simply to o exorbitant to raise....Disney is an example of a wonderful organization that does have the money and that does produce wonderful musicals such as "The Lion King"! When we get back...of course we will hear from Judy, and a little known song from the Rodgers and Hart Catalogue....This is DBS, and I'm Davy your host....grab a cosmo and come back!
