My friend John Eaden has put together a beautiful tribute to Nelson Mandela over my new piano / voice version of "Happy Ever After". When I started writing the song 25 years ago, I took a break after the verse and chorus were written. I turned on the TV and was overwhelmed and inspired by a piece on South Africa, Nelson Mandela and apartheid. Having just absorbed such shocking and heart breaking information, I couldn't just continue with a theme about love and life and wondering if I would be happy ever after. The song then a took a turn towards South Africa. Nelson Mandela is a shinning light of integrity, such an elegant and eloquent man. An inspiration to us all.
