Signore e Signori, arriva “Heart and Soul” capolavoro dei capolavori, la quinta traccia di “Unknown Pleasures”. Qui i Joy Division sono perfettamente in sintonia, riuscendo a realizzare qualcosa di disumanamente oscuro, abissale, in cui anche la voce di Curtis funge da elemento atmosferico, così bassa e distante che sembra provenire da una cripta. Il basso realizza il suo giro estraniante e catacombale, la batteria (sopra tutto) parte con un ritmo nervoso e ossessivo, la chitarra in lontananza vagheggia come un fantasma urlante e tragico. Per sei minuti il ritmo rimarrà sempre lo stesso, ripetitivo fino allo sfinimento, distruttivo, le nostre difese psichiche ridotte all’osso. Curtis, da perfetto cerimoniere, canta del dualismo ancestrale fra cuore e anima, simbolo di tutti i dualismi esistenti, in cui uno solo potrà vivere, mentre l’altro sarà costretto a bruciare, quale non ci è dato saperlo:Ladies and Gentlemen , comes " Heart and Soul " masterpiece of masterpieces , the fifth track of " Unknown Pleasures " . Here Joy Division are perfectly in tune , managing to achieve something inhumanly dark , abysmal , in which the voice of Curtis serves as atmospheric element , so low and distant that seems to come from a crypt . The low realizes his lap alienating and catacombs , the battery ( above all) of them with a nervous rhythm and obsessive , guitar longs in the distance like a ghost screaming and tragic . For six minutes the pace will always remain the same , repetitive till you drop , destructive , our psychic defenses reduced bone. Curtis , a perfect master of ceremonies , singing the ancestral dualism between the heart and soul , a symbol of all the existing dualism , in which one can live while the other will be forced to burn , not what we can not know :
