It's seems very clear that most southern individuals have never left the south. I lived in Georgia for 6 years, north Carolina for a year and now in florida and where I am from is far more country then the south that I have seen so far. Carhart cowboy hat wearing farm and ranch boys where I'm from. People that grow up eating what they kill. I laugh at the size of farms in the south. Those are not farms or ranches. Josh Thompson is a real country boy that doesn't take his fame for granted. I saw him in concert and the entire show he was drinking with the fans cheering beers and just being a down to earth guy. One of my favorites for sure.

Cairo Illinois!!!! best backdrop for anything you could want! This video shows most of what is not here anymore. I write this from the other side of Cairo and I have to say what a long way we have come. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers just upgraded our flod protection(best in the Ohio or Mississippi river valleys). Now we are getting fast food chains and tearing down anything that has been left to ruin. We have upgraded the police force and both fire departments are well equipped and trained and have manpower at their disposal. Come live or build a business in Cairo IL. We will always be grateful to anyone who will maintain a house and pay taxes. and by the way we just got road and street funding so no more potholes and our water is maintained by Illinois American so water service is more than adequate for fire flows and the sewers run good and the electricity is rarely a problem. Cairo is the place to be and beautiful to boot!!!

Great video. I worked for the rr years ago bringing trains through this very town. It's sad what the race riots did to the town of Cairo, Il.

Wow, very glad this was filmed in my home town before all of downtown was demolished! 90% of the buildings featured no longer exist, the town is sparse but very much cleaner than it has ever been! Plus this only shows 2 of 39 cross streets, very few get to see the big picture that is Cairo.
