I pulled up behind a Cadillac

We were waiting for the light

And I took a look at his license plate

It said "Just Ice"

Is justice just ice?

Governed by greed and lust?

Just the strong doing what they can

And the weak suffering what they must?

And the gas leaks

And the oil spills

And sex sells everything

And sex kills

Doctors' pills give you brand new ills

And the bills bury you like an avalanche

And lawyers haven't been this popular

Since Robespierre slaughtered half of France!

And Indian chiefs with their old beliefs know

The balance is undone, crazy ions

You can feel it out in traffic

Everyone hates everyone!

And the gas leaks

And the oil spills

And sex sells everything

And sex kills

All these jackoffs at the office

The rapist in the pool

Oh and the tragedies in the nurseries

Little kids packin' guns to school

The ulcerated ozone

These tumors of the skin

This hostile sun beating down on

This massive mess we're in!

And the gas leaks

And the oil spills

And sex sells everything

And sex kills

Joni is a category all her own,it seems ludicrous to attempt to put Joni in a public capsule and do a portrait of her via nostalgia on film. This is the magic of Joni avoiding the pop labels avoiding the dated whims that were merely a plague designed to freeze her in time .Her past is more like a poetic trail of Jazz firmly planted in the soil of her artistic affiliations with color. Clearing her own path like a surveyor with a transit cutting her own property lines through the hissing summer lines of time. Get well Joni . Gary Brumley

Leno is a piece of f***ing s***. First he holds up her CD and says "whatever" and then in the interview says "You are so amazing. I never met a woman that didn't love your work". Joni is a force of nature, a bulldozer of truth. The best quote, to paraphrase - "I had pretty good radar playing the clubs in the village, I could usually spot the FBI agents". We will soon forget Leno. But not Joni. She will live on for the ages.

Wow. I LOVE that song and what a great Prince story. It's so cool that she remembers him from the audience.

She's playing four parts on guitar: Bass, Melody, Middle, Drums. And singing. And you've heard that rhythm where? No you haven't.

Can't add anything more. You guys said it all. She's been my favorite musician/poet/singer/painter since Blue and Clouds. Wow

Oh, thanks so much for this treasure. You would indeed need a "Tin Ear" not to appreciate this magnificent artist. Thank you Joni for over 40 years (for me) of your beautiful, insightful words and music.

Even now, in the year 2015, Joni is in a class by herself. One of the greatest masters of the craft of all time . . . in my humble opinion.

Sexy as fuck; even Jay Leno admitted to being turned on.

Time really flies man. She did the same tune on Letterman, but was much less relaxed in the "interview section " with him. Letterman is not a sincere guy

I'm ashamed for not having heard this until recently. An excellent song with really great guitar tuning (dropped C#) producing suggestive sonorities, plus superb vocal delivery (controlled passion and outrage) of a vital message. Very moving.
