Johnny Marr doing what he does best.

(Sorry about the 4:3 aspect ratio and chopped ending; my conversion software failed me and I only noticed after the video had uploaded and I had deleted the original footage - yes I'm an idiot)

Don't get me wrong, right, because I think Johnny's an excellent man and guitarist, but its like handing Morrissey a guitar and trying to play it.

Sadly, Morrissey's versions of Smiths songs never sound musically right. Marr's versions never sound vocally right. ): Either way I loved seeing Morrissey live and Marr's next on my list! :D

He's not a great live singer; however, when he sings this live with an audience, the whole audience is belting it out creating an amazing emotion. More than papers over the cracks. The real problem with Johnny's gigs is that so few people sing along with his solo stuff because they don't know it; unlike Moz's gigs, where a good proportion of the audience will always be word-perfect, even on b-sides, and Moz always sings every note like his very life depended on it.

The last time I saw Moz was at the rescheduled Albert Hall gig in October, 2009, and his band were just truly awful. They butchered "This Charming Man". Saw Johnny and his band twice this year: in March and then a couple of weeks ago. I was concerned that the bassist was a bit 'chuggy' (good word) the first time; no such reservations this time: the whole band were really, really tight.

Decent version, but Johnny really nailed it on Jimmy Fallon - search for that version; just WOW.
