A great and brand new transfer from the original promo VHS of «Turn The Tide», which is in my possesion. This is done using Elegato Video Capture for Mac, from my S-VHS-player to my MacPro 2010. To my knowledge, this is the best YouTube-available clip of this first Johnny Hates Jazz-track without Clark Datchler made public. But as fans of the bands may know, Phil Thornalley was the original vocalist on the very first track from the band, «Me and My Foolish Heart».

Client: Virgin Records. Date: 19.09.89. West-1 Television.

I absolutely love it. A worthy replacement of the original numero uno.

Sounds a lot like Joseph Williams who was the lead vocalist with TOTO for a while

I only know Phil Thornalley as being the bass player for The Cure (albeit for a very short time in the early Eighties). This song is something of a departure from that!

I love Phil Thornalley's songwriting and this is one of my favorite JHJ songs. I always thought it was a big mistake to not include this on "Tall Stories". It would have made a great album even better. Check out "Money Changes Hands" and "Your Mistake".

Great job! The sharp video is impressive. We can get a much better idea of how hot Phil Thornalley is. Of course, Calvin Hayes never disappoints. He practically steals the show in "Shattered Dreams." I've always wondered why Clark Datchler --a looker in his own right-- left the band.

Why don't we have good music like this on the radio nowadays! I can't stand all this vulgar garbage they have on today's stations. Gosh they don't even put on decent rap music anymore.
