Much of my musical taste in music came from my uncle who grew up in Chicago. He introduced me to The Police, The Clash, U2 and many other bands that were not popular yet in my age group (13...14). I remember thinking that Mellencamp (John Cougar at the time) was too "Midwest" for him. He loved this song - until they played it over and over and over that summer... "Valley Girl" was another one that came out that summer that radio stations refused to stop playing until everyone hated it:-)

I'm 13 just about to turn 14, and I love this song. I love rock. I love Smokey and the Bandit. I love Van Halen, Def Leppard, Led Zepplin, Metallica, Rush, any 80's rock band. I wish I was born in the 70's to live in the 80's. It's so sad that nonsense that plays on the radio nowadays. I did the Van Halen jump out of a tree at school one time, all people had to say was nice ballerina jump. It's so stupid. I want the 80's. I'm going to live my life as close to 80's as possible.
