I got a call the day before Farm Aid. John Hiatt Farm Aid rehearsal that afternoon. I was welcome to stop by. John was rehearsing with Was Not Was. Kenny Aronoff on drums. Iggy Pop came by to rehearse as well. I was a little star struck, but I met John, and we had a nice chat. Just as nice a guy as you would imagine.

He is amazing. Soulful as a monk. He sings with such depth and humanity. He is one of my favorite artists right now......

I fell in love with the music of John Hiatt when I first heard him on tour with “bring the family” John’s talent to look so empathically into our souls and make a song out of it is unparalleled. I wish radio would play more of his music…

@chris3312music I think it would be cool with just all acoustic instruments and the solo on a mandolin...what do you think?

Hiatt is always good, but the saxophones have to go. I don't care for horns in this song.

Terrible sound, agreed. Also, the horn section arrangement is weird. It's a fantastic song, but I can't stand that cheesy horn part.

I thought he WAS Bob Dylan, listening to the song today (on HBO, the movie "Michael" in the credits.) It is a great song, with strong words, that have deep meaning. I came here to see if I could find it.
