Pretty obvious Barnes had a shocker with this performance, even someone tone deaf could tell. I remember hearing him in an interview saying he stuffed up this night by not warming up before going on stage, seems he knows it was a shocker. The studio version proves he was more than capable of delivering a world class performance.
