From Windstar Symposium "Choices For The Future" held in August 1995.

John Denver was singing "Poems, Prayers & Promises" with Chris White.

Enjoy!

I've been lately thinkin' about my life's time

All the things I've done and how it's been

And I can't help believin' in my own mind

I know I'm gonna hate to see it end

I've seen a lot of sunshine, slept out in the rain

Spent a night or two all on my own

I've known my lady's pleasures, had myself some friends

Spent a time or two in my own home

And I have to say it now, it's been a good life all in all

It's really fine to have the chance to hang around

Lie there by the fire and watch the evening tire

While all my friends and my old lady sit and pass a pipe around

And talk of poems, and prayers and promises and things that we believe in

How sweet it is to love someone, how right it is to care

How long it's been since yesterday, what about tomorrow

And what about our dreams and all the memories we share

The days they pass so quickly now, nights are seldom long

Time around me whispers when it's cold

The changes somehow frighten me, still I have to smile

It turns me on to think of growing old

For though my life's been good to me, there's still so much to do

So many things my mind has never known

I'd like to raise a family, I'd like to sail away

And dance across the mountains on the moon

And I have to say it now, it's been a good life all in all

It's really fine to have the chance to hang around

Lie there by the fire and watch the evening tire

While all my friends and my old lady sit and pass a pipe around

And talk of poems, and prayers and promises and things that we believe in

How sweet it is to love someone, how right it is to care

How long it's been since yesterday, what about tomorrow

And what about our dreams and all the memories we share

So.... I happen to love her vocals and harmony. Clearly - he did too. I love this version.

I sure wish. Could show her how to sing the harmonies on this beautiful song, a favorite of John's.

This duet was sung at a symposium, not a concert. John's strong, sure voice carried the tune excellently and he wasn't flustered at all. Please don't worry about John - he can look after himself! She was okay and I enjoyed the melody and the words. Thanks John, always a joy listening to you. God bless.

is it possible to seperate the song in such a way that you can only get her vocals? I am looking for something to scare off the neighbourhood cats

This actually physically hurts. I have to hit stop.

Any chance John actually flew that plane into the ocean on purpose knowing this would be on YouTube? I think this proves why no one is on iTunes buying Chris White albums.

Oh, Good God. She had no business being on stage with John Denver. NO ear for harmony. Did he owe her money or something?

My most favorite song of yours, John! Rest in peace! I think of this song every time I push the canoe out into the lake where I spend time in Northwestern Montana. I would've loved to have you spend some "down time" on my property.... God speed....

The woman's microphone needed to be turned DOWN - she doesn't have a clue how to blend her voice with John's. Her voice should compliment John's NOT drown him out. Too bad this wasn't a SOLO!
