I want you to drift like a bird in the silence of hope,To take a bicycle ride to a place where the sea touches your toes,I saw lovers dance and knew that this world turns,Took some tea with the scented fragrance of dreams,My soul rose up to hold your hands as we fell like tears,Sat in the garden and watched this day as it passed to night,A shadow will sometimes be cast but it is only a shadow,We are beyond the dreams of men as we navigate with hope,You are on the breeze and in the eyes of all those that love youI will be there to greet you as we go home.....

So it would have been a good idea to mention that in the credits ;-)

Try Wikipedia - Bach himself got it from a guy called Hans Leo Hassler: "Mein G'müt ist mir verwirret," ( = I am all mixed up - litt. "My mood is me confused" ;-) ). watch?v=bO_ZiRJUStE ( in German with a very US accent ;-) ) sfbach.org text-mein-gm%C3%BCth-ist-mir-verwirret Nothing new under the sun it seems ;-)

Dear Mr. Borismax; As I wrote to Mrs. Deborah; Paul Simom did not plagiarize Bach; he´d used Bach´s song put in his liric and recorded it as a romantic song for 60/70´s. He had assummed he was using a Bach song,

Dear Mrs. Deborah; My home language is portuguese, I´m Brazilian and live in Brasil, but I´d like to do my best in english and try to reply your comment saying that Paul Simom had assummed he was using a Bach song, put in his liric and recorded it as a romantic song for 60/70´s. He did not plagiarize Bach; he ´d used a Bach´s song

i thought the same thing. Bothers me that there is no acknowledgement on Mr. Simon's recording, it really seems like plagiarism. That said, both pieces are beautiful.

Bach did not write the melody it is in fact a piece medievals Church music from the 12th century probably composed by an anonymous monk.

make no mistake: the brigde of the song was composed by Paul Simon, the way he delivers the melody is outstanding and the lyrics are timeless and brillant. All that together makes "American tune" a piece of art in its own right.

lets all stumble down on "the new london chorale" who did the same and made classical music prove to be the pop-music of their time too...
