This is a song about a woman reneging on a promise to be emotionally committed to the guy that Tex is singing...so she attempts to play games with him and he is not going for it.

James Brown stole his mic moves, dance moves, cape act & one of his songs he wrote but didn't make into a hit but James re-arranged it made it a hit & ended up with co-writer credits. Damn!! James WANTED TO THIS MAN REAL BAD. Then James turned around & married the man's ex-wife Bea Ford.

OLD FUNK. The kind I haven't heard since I was a young boy. There is always music in my dreams. I don't remember the dreams but the most obscure songs, tunes and lyrics surface during the next day. Playing in my head... Even if it's just a thread. I wouldn't want to shake it.They sure beat those annoying songs you can't cut loose.

i was a kid when this came out...despite being only 9 or 10, i knew what the lyrics "implied". Nowadays, kids don't have to use any imagination in their interpretation. the artist (chuckle) paints a very graphic picture with words...

This was the first record I ever bought. I must have been 10 or 11 y/o. Growing up in Cali, Colombia, I even didn't know it was funk. I thought it was rock LOL. I kept hearing "estoy borracho" at 1:04. Is that what he says? I loved this song so much! That beat!
