It's much prettier than Dylan's and he'd approve!

even though Joan did always do an amazing job at singing Dylan songs, and gave everything to make this world a better place, people still don't understand about understanding and respecting each other, or about the sense of life...there's still waaay too much violence, hate and disrespecting of others on this planet.seems like people will never change. Just look at the Ukraine, Israel and even ourselfs or the economy.Maybe some things will change in the next decades, of my yet early point of life...but it seems like things are turning more and more worse than good. When will people ever understand that love is the answere...

I don't believe Dylan could have written such words about anyone but himself ... I believe it's about a defining moment in a life, not a relationship breakdown ('the vagabond who's rapping at your door. is standing in the clothes that you once wore') ...

Sorry, I don't! But thanks for the facts in your previous message. It's not my theory, I heard it on a radio show that stated it as a fact, but, what do they know.. Anyway, I never noticed that "go/let's start anew" thing! That's interesting. And as you said, it would be kind of nice if it was about them... Well anyway, a great song, and a great version.

although maybe dylan's version is not about baez, maybe this version is indeed about dylan. as you said, it's a version of a song dylan wrote. it's about the ending of a relationship and maybe joan sings it about dylan because she says "let us start anew" while dylan says "go start anew." do you know who ended things officially between them? if dylan did, baez could be asking him back? who knows

the album was released in march 1965 but according to wiki, dylan and baez's relationship fizzled out after dylan's tour of the u.k. in '65 - after bringing it all back home had been released. but in the summer of '64, dylan and baez were staying at dylan's manager's house in woodstock, new york. during that time dylan was by his typewriter for hours, writing songs. maybe, during this time, he saw his and baez's relationship breaking down. maybe - and somehow it'd be nice if your theory is true

Yes, such an incredible voice! I remember being about 17 & hearing her for the first time (long ago now) & I just could not believe someone could sing like this....even to this day I am in awe. Imagine being born with a voice like this? You can study voice all you want & you can learn a lot; breath control, projection etc. but you are born with a voice that Joan Baez has. Her late sister Mimi also was a singer & very good & really talented but in a different way then Joan.
