Thank-you so ,so much for this clip ! Growing up, I don't recall ever seeing Jo on TV, & I know she was. What a voice, & total-class this lady had. Wolfsky9

Yeah, all those tunes are OK. But nothing compares to "Long ago and far away", her most absolute apex.

Jo Stafford, without a doubt, had the most perfect, purist voice, of all female "pop" singers. Her only equal was Ella,"concerning Jazz. From her days with the "Pied Pipes" to the end, she was incomparable. Sinatra, loved her, as much as, he did Ella.

There are no words, but that's not going to stop me! I so love this so-called oldtime music... so pure, so human, so primal and you/I can harmonize to it.... so basic compared to the frenzied, over digitalized music of today!

Trombonology Erstwhile

Jo was/is the greatest -- she had it all: gorgeous, instantly recognizable tone; swinging, laid-back rhythm; matchless interpretive ability. She was a very musicianly singer who, despite being very subtle, really packed a punch.

This was my parents, both Dad & mom, all-time favorite female singer. What a voice Jo had, & to think that 4 years after this video, she retired saying she didn't want to sing only half as well as she did in the 50's. What a class act she was! Wolfsky9

She's lovely, I really love her beautiful, angelic voice. It would have been a pleasure to have met her. She was very gifted.
