On this day in 1968 {March 24th} Jimmy Dean performed "To a Sleeping Beauty" on the CBS-TV program 'The Ed Sullivan Show'...Six years earlier on January 14th, 1962 it entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart at position #80, six weeks later on February 25th, 1962 it peaked at #26 {for 1 week} and spent 9 weeks on the Top 100...It reached #6 on Billboard's Adult Contemporary Tracks chart and #15 on Billboard's Hot County Singles chart...Between 1952 and 1983 he had twenty-six records make the Hot Country Singles chart, eight of them made the Top 10 with two reaching #1, "Big Bad john" for two weeks in 1961 and "The First Thing Ev'ry Morning (And The Last Thing Ev'ry Night)" for two weeks in 1965...He came close to having a third #1 record when "PT-109" peaked at #3 in 1962...Jimmy Ray Dean passed away on June 13th, 2010 at the age of 81...May he R.I.P.
