From his 1974 album, "Living & Dying in 3/4 Time," here is Jimmy Buffett's gentle ballad "Come Monday." I consider this one to be one of his best songs, but the highest it reached on the Billboard charts was #30. A quick side-note: my parents have a copy of this LP in their collection, and I was always fascinated by this LP more so than most of them mainly because of that Great White Shark that graces the backside so ominously!!! It's even more menacing when you flip the LP over to the front and see how Jimmy is sitting on a shipwrecked boat in the middle of the ocean...!! Gotta love the classic artists' creativity when it came to Album Art!

To the casual fan, Jimmy isn't exactly known for beautiful, slower tempo songs such as this one. He does a great job with this one however and this song also proves that Jimmy Buffett could do more than just "chill out" type songs. The song shows he has more diversity musically than he's usually given credit for.

I was first introduced to this song by my parents and I've always enjoyed it. It's got great sentimental lyrics that tell a great story. The melody and harmony are memorable while the music is calming. I'm surprised this didn't rank higher on the charts, but it's one of the songs he almost always plays at his concerts so clearly the fans see this one as a standout! It has touched a lot of people over the years! Keep on Rockin' Jimmy!

(With apologies to Jimmy Buffet. Sung to the tune of "Come Monday") Come Thursday it'll be all right,Come Thursday I'll be holding you tight.I spent fourteen long days in a brown L.A. hazeAnd I just want you back by my side.I can't help it honey,You're that much a part of me now.Remember the night in Willamette With apologies to Jimmy Buffet (to the tune of “Come Monday”) ....Headin' up to ol’ VancouverFor the after tax season show,I've got my good tennies on,I guess I never was meant forGlitter rock and roll. And honey I didn't knowThat I'd be missin' you so.Come Thursday it'll be all right,Come Thursday I'll be holding you tight.I spent fourteen long days in a brown L.A. hazeAnd I just want you back by my side.Yes it's been quite a season,“Transition” talks and tax refrains. And now you're off on vacation,Somethin' you tried to explain. And darlin' I love you so that'sThe reason I just let you go.whenWe said there'd be no room for doubt.I hope you're enjoyin' the scenery,I know that it's pretty up there. We can go hikin on Friday,With you I'd walk anywhere.California has worn me quite thin,I just can't wait to see you again.Come Thursday it'll be all right,Come Thursday I'll be holding you tight.I spent fourteen long days in a brown L.A. hazeAnd I just want you back by my side.

You don't have to be a loyal Jimmy Buffett fan to like this song. It rocks! And it's a Country Music song that rocks!

Woke-up this morning with this song on my mind. Sang it while I walked out to buy breakfast for the family. This and "'Bama Breeze" are, to me, what JB is all about.

A1A, White Sports Coat & a Pink Crustation, & this album are really good records. I'm not a big fan but really enjoy the change of pace from the usual headbanging 70's stuff I still listen to. I still enjoy this genre of music.

JIMMY has a beautiful voice COME MONDAY may be one of his best songs.

Just about perfect. The sentiment is universal, but the lyrics and bridge elevate it. Background vocals are sublime and there are the right amount of strings. Not as goofy as some of his later hits.

Might actualy be his best! And it probably would have been a bigger hit if he released it a few years later, when he was at his peak and already a household name, rather than early on in his career, when the track might not have received the airplay it deserved. Maybe he still plays it frequently because its one of his own favorites, and knows its great. If the fans like it as well, that's just icing on the cheeseburger.
